What Our Clients Are Saying!
My goal for each client is to “Build Reputation to Leverage Influence” for good.

“Public-relations specialists make flower arrangements of the facts, placing them so the wilted and less attractive petals are hidden by sturdy blooms.” – Alan Harrington
Public Relations, Marketing and Public Affairs may seem to be different terms to describe one activity, or three sides of the same function. Not so! While all three should complement each other in an organization each function has important differences and different roles.
Public Relations is directed to the public in the given business market; more importantly, influencers and advocates of the client organization. Values led issue advocacy is driven by the organization’s values and leads to social change resulting in a better world. We train business leaders to become collaborators with allies who will advocate for beneficial causes and outcomes. Or we build those relationships on behalf of our clients.
Marketing is used to attract revenue; the message of influence is targeted to the consumer of goods and services. Thomley Consulting provides research to define the target market and develop, implement, and measure success of campaigns. Messages may be delivered through any combination of direct marketing, traditional media social media, and word of mouth messaging. Marketing can be cause related but is led by the consumer’s interest and the goal is to increase the bottom line by connecting with consumers through their interests.
Public Affairs messaging is directed to makers of regulations, policies and laws affecting business operations and the business environment. While not lobbyists, we at Thomley Consulting can help frame messaging and coordinate market research to determine positions of importance in the political arena and train staff to address media and legislative representatives. What legislation and public policy will affect your business? Is it important to have your voice heard by lawmakers and regulators? We can help with that.
Each of these communications is a different function varying in importance from industry to industry and market to market. Budgets for each should be distinct. Communication for each audience should be precise in message and medium, yet part of a cohesive strategy to support a business or community organization and its objectives.
At Thomley Consulting we can support your messaging by consulting with leadership to implement tactics and strategies, train qualified leadership to do the work, or coach organizational team members to accomplish defined objectives. Our approach is as unique as your organization and your goals.
